Correct DTF pressing is about more than temperature alone. Time, pressure, garment preparation, peel type, post-pressing and the surface under the print all affect adhesion and finish.

Use a proper heat press with adjustable time, temperature and pressure. A Cricut EasyPress may work for small jobs, but it requires very firm pressure and is less consistent than a heat press.
Use baking paper, parchment paper or a suitable heat press cover sheet for the post-press stage. Do not use wax paper.
A pressing pillow helps raise the print area above seams, collars, pockets, zippers or thick garment edges so pressure is more even.
Use heat tape if needed to stop the transfer moving while you load the garment into the press.
Always test on a similar fabric before pressing expensive garments, customer garments or unfamiliar materials.
Keep lint, dust, threads and loose powder away from the transfer and garment surface before pressing.
If you have multiple designs on a gang sheet, cut out the transfer you want to apply. Leave enough clear film around the artwork so you can position it easily without touching the printed area.
Lay the garment flat on the press. Where possible, thread the garment onto the lower platen so only the layer you are pressing is on top. This prevents the back of the garment, seams or bulky areas from interfering with pressure.
DTF adhesive needs contact with the garment fibres. Too little pressure can cause peeling or poor wash durability. Too much pressure can flatten or mark some garments, especially polyester, fleece and textured fabrics.
A pressing pillow is useful when the garment has collars, seams, side seams, pockets, zippers, buttons, drawstrings or thick edges near the design area. The pillow lifts the print area so the platen can apply more even pressure to the transfer.
Place the pillow inside the garment, directly under the design area. The print surface should be raised, while bulky seams and collars sit off the pillow where possible.
A pillow helps with uneven garments, but it can also change pressure. If the transfer is not bonding well while using a pillow, check that the pillow is the right size and that you have enough pressure at the actual design area.
For flat t-shirts with no seams near the artwork, threading the garment on the platen or pressing directly on a firm lower platen may give the most consistent result.
These settings are practical starting points for Print Geek DTF transfers. Heat presses vary, so test your own press, garment and transfer type before production.

Do not treat every DTF transfer film the same. Some films are designed to peel cold, some warm, and some immediately. If a transfer lifts while peeling, stop, lay it back down, repress, and allow more cooling time if using cool peel film.
Cut the design from the gang sheet if needed. Position it on the garment, check alignment, and use heat tape if the transfer may move.
If seams, collars, pockets or zippers are near the design, use a pressing pillow or thread the garment so the print area is flat and raised.
Use the correct temperature, time and pressure for your film and garment type. Close the heat press smoothly and avoid disturbing the transfer during the press.
Peel according to the film type. Cool peel film should cool before peeling. Instant peel film should be peeled immediately and confidently at a steady speed.
Cover the transfer with baking paper or a suitable cover sheet and press again for 3–5 seconds. This helps finish the surface, remove loose powder specks and settle the transfer into the garment fibres.
Allow the garment to cool before folding, packing or stretching the design area. For best wash durability, avoid washing immediately after pressing.
Pressure is one of the biggest reasons DTF transfers either succeed or fail. The adhesive powder needs enough heat and pressure to bond into the garment fibres.
The transfer may lift, peel, crack early, fail in the wash or look like it is sitting on top of the garment rather than bonding into it.
Some fabrics may show a press box, shine, flattening, discolouration or texture change. This can be especially noticeable on polyester and fleece.
The transfer bonds cleanly, the peel is smooth, the finish is even, and the garment does not show excessive press marks after cooling.
Test on spare fabric first. Start with firm pressure, check adhesion and garment marking, then adjust until the print bonds well without leaving unnecessary press marks.

Wash durability is affected by pressing accuracy, garment fabric, pressure, transfer quality, wash method and drying method. Good pressing is the first step to good wash performance.
A household iron is not recommended. DTF transfers need consistent heat and pressure across the whole design, which is much easier to achieve with a heat press.
